About Us

Pittsburgh Pet Care is a professional community of pet professionals (animal trainers, pet care providers, pet service providers, and veterinarians), and a pet care business institute.  Our community is committed to defining and adhering to industry leading standards for pet care which ensure the emotional, physical, and environmental well-being of companion animals.  Our institute is committed to starting, building, and taking pet care businesses to the next level in accordance with our strict standards for the pet care industry.

As a community, we are defining what it means to provide world-class pet care and to adhere to that standard as pet professionals.  We believe in working together to achieve this mission through educating the industry, and the pet-owning public, as well as, providing resources to promote world-class care for animals.  Effective relationship-based, compassionate care and training focused on the owners’ and animals’ individual needs are central to our mission.

We are also dedicated to spreading the benefits of using ethical and reward-based methods in all aspects of animal care.  It is our objective to raise awareness and strengthen consumer confidence by creating and holding our community to a standard of care.

Our Co-Founders

Andrew Marrangoni

Andrew is the owner and operator of Steel City Pack Leader, a multi-faceted business which meets a wide range of client needs.  Steel City Pack Leader and Pittsburgh Pet Care are founded on Andrew’s wealth of experience in the pet care industry.  Specifically, his experience as a dog walker for and opening of a doggie daycare and grooming salon with King of Pet Care; his receipt of a dog trainer certification from the Animal Behavior College; his role as the Director of Training and Dog Handling Operations for the Dog Stop; consulting for Big Easy Animal Hospital during their development and opening of Dog Daze; and the founding and operating of Steel City Pack Leader since 2008.

The combination of Andrew’s experience and training have enabled him to truly appreciate what it means to be a pet care professional.  It’s more than just liking to work with dogs.  It requires skill, patience, consistency, and commitment. Sadly, not all pet care companies are focused on the well-being of the pet as much as the bottom line.  At Steel City Pack Leader, people’s pets are the highest priority.  The team at Steel City Pack Leader is always striving to improve the quality of their services, while also providing an attractive working environment for their employees and contractors.
